Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Lab Scientist 2 Point of Care Testing
Location: Charlottesville VA
Shift: Day Shift
Compensation Range: $27.84 $44.54 per hour
SignOn Bonus: Up to $12500 for eligible applicants

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Lab Scientist 2 to support our Point of Care Testing (POCT) operations in Charlottesville VA. In this essential role you will be responsible for performing complex clinical diagnostic testing procedures and ensuring the highest level of patient care through accurate and timely results. You will also serve as a technical resource and trainer to less experienced staff and healthcare professionals promoting compliance and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex patient and quality control testing in POCT and assigned areas ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.

  • Maintain competency and develop skills in routine and specialized laboratory procedures.

  • Serve as a trainer and role model for Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 staff and healthcare professional students.

  • Investigate document and resolve technical and workflowrelated problems or complaints.

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure proper use of reagents and supplies.

  • Perform advanced equipment maintenance calibration and troubleshooting.

  • Ensure continuity of care by supporting a smooth and efficient shift transition.

  • Participate actively in quality safety and compliance programs including documentation and inspection readiness.

  • Collaborate with POCT Coordinator and Laboratory Leadership to optimize testing protocols introduce new technologies and support strategic goals.

  • Provide support for procedure updates validation of instruments and training documentation.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT);
    OR

  • Associate Degree or 60 semester hours with 6 hours in Chemistry and 6 hours in Biology plus Accredited MLT Training;
    OR

  • Bachelors degree in Biology Chemistry Medical Technology or a related science field.

Licensure/Certification:

  • ASCP certification required within 24 months of hire or military experience equivalent to the ASCP.

Experience:

  • 2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

  • Prior experience in POCT or as a lead/senior technologist is a plus.
