Position Summary

Master of Arts in School Counseling with Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential

The Master of Arts in School Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential prepares individuals to serve as credentialed School Counselors in public PK12 school settings. This program is designed for those seeking to support student development through a Christcentered approach to academic career and socialemotional counseling.

The program includes a minimum of 50 units of graduate coursework and 800 hours of supervised clinical practice in PK12 environments. Each student follows a customized course sequence and educational plan determined in collaboration with the program director.

Admission to the program requires completion of three prerequisite courses. These are waived for applicants who hold a bachelors degree in Psychology from Fresno Pacific University a University of California (UC) or a California State University (CSU) campus.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a standard office and school environment including classrooms and counseling spaces.
  • The role may require travel between school sites or to offcampus locations for meetings training or student support.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a school setting (e.g. student interactions bells hallway traffic).
  • Involves frequent interaction with students families teachers and school personnel.
  • May require occasional participation in evening or weekend events such as parent meetings open houses or school functions.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel personal hygiene and grooming.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent sitting standing and walking throughout the school day.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular use of computer and other office equipment requiring repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly in facetoface and telephone communication.
  • Visual acuity to read documents student records and computer screens.
  • May require extended periods of concentration and interaction in highstress or emotionally charged situations involving student wellbeing.

Terminal degree: Anticipated pay per unit $977.98 $28.82 per hour
