AbouttheRole
As a Junior Network Engineer you will manage and maintain our FWA and FTTPNetworks whilst providing a highquality service to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Providing remote support to Field Engineers to resolve issues found onsite.
- HandlingNetwork issues within theNetwork Operations Team (NOT) and across our FWA and FTTPNetwork Estate.
- Working with our monitoring platforms to pick up and fix issues before they become customer impacting.
- Monitor the Network take corrective actions and escalate issues where necessary.
- Working on Customer faults.
- Logging newNetwork faults to our ticketing system.
- Able to monitor and fault find in a logical way.
- Continually improve and developNetworkprocesses making them more efficient.
- Prioritise and manage multiple items that may conflict with one another.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness approval and success of changes made to theNetworkinfrastructure.
- Liaise with vendors and other NOT members for problem resolution.
- Providing technical support to Frontline operations / agents;
Qualifications
- Telecommunication degree (desirable)
- A good general level of education.
Technical Knowledge & Experience
- At least one years experience within a similar role
- Knowledge and experience of configuring and troubleshooting basicnetworks.
- A good understanding of L2/L3networking FWANetworks and experience working with BroadbandNetworks.
- Good understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
- Handson experience with monitoring Network diagnostic and Network analytics tools.
- Good experience with Network Monitoring platforms such as LibreNMS Icinga PRTG Nagios Zabbix Dude etc.
- VLANs PPPoE DHCP Static routing NAT Tunnelling.
- FWA multivendor knowledge like Ubiquiti Mikrotik Zyxel Radwin Siklu Cambium
Desirable skills
- Knowledge of layer 3 routing (OSPF/BGP)
- Knowledge of wireless bands and channels including licensed links.
- Knowledge of wireless planning tools like WISDM
- Knowledge of radio management platform like UISPUNMS cnMaestro
- Experience of PON networks and associated networking tools.
- Linux shell / Mikrotik CLI
