Founded in 1996 CMES Inc. is a rapidly growing privately held Georgiabased civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Project Engineer to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the highway construction industry.


Overview: The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating the complete construction and administrative requirements of the various bid packages; and orchestrating the information flows needed for each component and system to be incorporated into the project all within the time frames needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working with the Project Manager Superintendent and the estimating/purchasing effort in the final development of the various bid packages and the baseline construction schedule.
  • Working with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop site utilization programs.
  • Establishing maintaining conducting and policing detailed procedures for the submittal review coordination approval and distribution of shop drawings samples etc.
  • Establishing and maintaining all project engineering files relating to subcontract and bid packages records plans specifications changes clarifications and asbuilt documents.
  • Reviewing all vendor schedules of values and preparing the general schedule of values as coordinated with the Project Manager.
  • Managing the periodic requisition procedure for review submittal and payment.
  • Expediting vendor estimates and proposals and preparing appropriate company estimates and proposals for changes to be submitted to the owner.
  • Determining appropriateness and preparing subcontractor change orders to be processed through the Project Manager.
  • Evaluating subcontractor payment requisitions relative to actual work performed.
  • Working with the Project Manager Superintendent and Project Accountant to prepare the general requisition and follow it through to payment.
Qualifications:
  • 12 years experience preferably in heavy civil work but general construction experience will be taken into consideration as well
  • Construction trade certifications or 24year college engineering degrees.
  • Primarily needs to have attention to detail and efficiency through use of technology.
  • AutoCAD experience or other drafting software experience.
  • Microsoft Office Products (excel outlook etc.
  • Ability to do routine math calculations including computation of quantity takeoff sales and quote

Compensation: $60000.00 $80000.00 per year

CMES Inc. was founded in February 1996 by professional civil engineers. The initial operations of CMES Inc. were conducted from their home in Lawrenceville Georgia. The founders were only employees for a time working diligently to obtain and complete projects within budget and on time as per contract specifications.

Today we are still young but also an aggressive company comprised of experienced professionals from the engineering design analysis construction and project management fields. We have grown to a workforce of over 300 dedicated employees and a fleet of more than 400 heavy construction equipment and vehicles. Our corporate office is located on a 67000 square foot facility which houses contracts estimating administrating accounting human resources and our fleet departments. CMES Inc. ranks among the Top 5 Heavy Highway Contractors based in Atlanta. In turn the company has grown steadily over the years which is evidenced by revenues exceeding $100M.

Certifications from various entities in the MetroAtlanta area are held by CMES Inc. and include DOT certifications MBE and EBO/ABE.
