Performs all specialized and general orthopedic functions including casting splinting dressing changes and assisting physicians with various orthopedic procedures.
Applies/removes casts/splints in orthopedic clinic
Assists EC and orthopedic physicians with reductions of dislocations and fractures
Applies and removes sterile dressings staples sutures or external fixators
Assembles overbed frames trapeze traction and rotorest beds
Performs appropriate measurements for fabrication application and adjustments of specialty braces
Order supplies
Post charges to patients
Document procedures performed and teachings provided to all patients treated
What you will need:
Associates degree in Orthopedic Technology from an institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and schools Commission or equivalent commission or agency. Three 3 years of directly applicable experience providing equivalent skills may be substituted for the associates degree in Orthopedic Technology.
