Job Description

Typical schedule is a 12 hour per day rotating days of the week.

6 a.m. 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. 6 a.m. Candidates must have a valid Michigan Drivers License and be over the age of 21.

Looking for Security Officers in and around the Grand Rapids area.

Job Summary

Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to detect or deter criminal activity and unsafe conditions. Responds to emergency situations calls for service and other requests for assistance. Provides support for safe and efficient parking and transportation services.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains highly visible foot and vehicle patrols to detect or deter fire accidents violations of hospital policies and criminal acts
  • Documents information on incident reports and other required documents in a thorough factual and timely manner
  • Assists employees visitors and patients with directions lost and found items vehicle assistance escorts and other requests for assistance. Provides access control for secured areas
  • Communicates collaborates with and provides appropriate information to patients visitors and members of the health care team
  • Manages verbal / physical conflicts using verbal deescalation physical presence restraint techniques or other appropriate legal force options
  • Responds to and investigates suspicious criminal or emergency situations
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field including best practices to maintain the professional competence knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required ongoing training and education including department specific requirements. Maintains required licensure and certifications

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age with valid Michigan driver license.
  • LICDrivers License STATEMI State of Michigan Upon Hire
  • CRTFirst Aid AHA American Heart Association 180 Days
  • CRTBasic Life Support (BLS) AHA American Heart Association 180 Days or
  • CRTBasic Life Support (BLS) ARC American Red Cross 180 Days

Preferred

  • Associates Degree Public Administration or Criminal Justice
  • 2 years of relevant related experience
  • Law Enforcement Academy or Military (active duty) experience in an environment of comparable size and complexity
