Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Project Planning within Planning is the unit responsible for defining and planning transit expansion projects in the early project stages through planning analyses problem definitions options development and evaluation conceptual design feasibility studies and business cases.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Project Planning theTransportation Planner will contribute to the planning design and advancement of rapid transit rail bus and stations projects in the early planning and conceptual design stage of the project lifecycle and in support of the Regional Transit Plan (RTP).
What will I be doing- Supports the planning and preliminary design of transit projects in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH) such as rapid transit passenger rail and GO stations to enable evidencebased decisionmaking and the delivery of equitable and sustainable transit infrastructure.
- Undertakes technical quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform problem/opportunity statements options analysis business cases conceptual design and preliminary design of transit projects.
- Provides coordination support to a Senior Transportation Planner with daytoday project management tasks (such as minutes risk logs and maintenance of project schedules) to ensure successful outcomes including ontime and onbudget delivery.
- Drafts and supports implementation of study scopes work plans schedules; supports procurement and management of consultant assignments and reviews deliverables to ensure that Metrolinxs standards of quality and analysis are met.
- Liaises and collaborates with key internal (such as Capital Projects Group Operations and Environmental Programs and Assessment) and external stakeholders (such as municipalities transit service providers and other partner organizations).
- Crafts briefing memorandums slide decks and technical reports for a wide range of audiences including Senior Management and community/external stakeholders.
- Participates in internal working groups to improve planning and project management practices and processes.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need- University Degree in Engineering Urban Planning or a related discipline OR an advanced/specialist technical certification in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in Transportation Planning infrastructure/design management or a related discipline.
- Robust planning analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication writing and presentation skills combined with some experience engaging/consulting stakeholders and communities.
- Solid organizational skills along with ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment take initiative and clearly escalate issues to Senior Transportation Planner or Senior Manager for resolution.
- General understanding of transit planning and infrastructure design processes and methodologies and general knowledge of contemporary transportation issues and priorities in the GGH.
- Project management experience would be considered an asset (developing/managing schedules and/or budgets coordinating contracts and overseeing vendors/consultants).
