Unified Authorization is responsible for securing customer and corporate communications across Amazons entire ecosystem. Our systems authenticate and authorize actions across all Amazon properties from retail websites to Alexa Prime Video and Kindle. We are a foundational service that intersects with every aspect of Amazons business enabling nextgeneration retail services on AWS infrastructure. As a global security provider we balance resiliency and availability while maintaining agile development speed.

Were seeking a proven technology leader with a track record of shipping productiongrade security solutions and demonstrated ability to work crossfunctionally. The ideal candidate will be an experienced software development leader who excels in delivering highimpact customer solutions. .You will lead and mentor a team of software development engineers drive architectural decisions and shape technical strategy. Your customers are thousands of internal software teams who rely on our security products requiring you to work closely with stakeholders to build solutions that enhance developer experience while strengthening security controls. You will partner with product management to define and execute product strategy while maintaining regular communication with senior management on status risks and strategic direction. You should be passionate about mentoring engineering talent and building highperforming teams while balancing security requirements with builder experience in Amazons global infrastructure.


About the team
Unified Auth is responsible for securing every service transaction within Amazon SDOs serviceoriented architecture (SOA) by authenticating the services involved in the transaction authorizing APIs access and enforcing leastprivilege access to Amazons business data such as Cart Order Customer Identity Item Employee Information and more. Unified Auths systems are classified as Maximally Secure Applications (MSA) by Amazon Security as they control access to all Amazon services. Amazons SOA is large complex and evergrowing. A single Amazon customer interaction such as adding an item into cart proceeding to checkout adding/changing payment methods confirming purchase etc. spans tens to hundreds of interservice interactions that must be secured and observed using Unified Auths systems. Stores Alexa Ring IMDB Prime Video Advertisement Selling Partners Pharmacy Ordering and Payments Fulfillment Centers and Amazons internal systems such as PXT rely on Unified Auth solutions to meet rising access control security and privacy standards such as Digital Markets Act (DMA) compliance GDPR and SOC 2 Type II certification.

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of engineering experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Bachelors degree
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language e.g. Java C# or C
5 years of experience managing an Agile team of 10 software development engineers
Experience building scalable distributed systems with service oriented architectures

Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex world class scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience with distributed databases and/or storage systems
A deep understanding of software engineering practices objectoriented analysis & design design patterns and algorithms
Demonstrated strong technical judgment in conjunction with passionate customerfocus
