At Rainbow Municipal Water District were all about providing clean reliable drinking water and wastewater services to the vibrant communities of Rainbow Bonsall and parts of Vista Oceanside and Fallbrook. We take pride in making a differenceand as a Utility Worker in our Construction Department youll get to make a difference too.
Were looking forteam players who are ready to roll up their sleeves and jump into actionespecially when a water main breaks in the middle of the street or a hydrant gets taken out by a latenight fender bender. When stuff hits the fanyoure the hero on the scene.
This isnt just a jobits essential work that keeps our community running. Youll be part of a skilled construction crew that installs maintains and repairs the backbone of our water system: mains service lines valves pumps motors and hydrants.Were hiring at multiple levels (Utility Worker I or II) based on your experience and certifications. Got Water Distribution certs a Class A license or AWS D1.1 welding cert You may qualify for a higher leveland higher pay.
Utility Worker I Pay range: $28.0140.62/hour

Day to Day Life
Whats a Day on the Job LikeNo two days are exactly the same but one things for suretheres never a dull moment.
As part of our construction crew youre one of the first responders when something goes sideways with the water system. Think burst pipes busted hydrants and surprise leaksyour team jumps in to keep water flowing to homes businesses and farms across our District.
Heres a taste of what youll be doing:
Fixing Whats Broken
Youll inspect repair and replace all kinds of water system partspipes valves hydrants regulators air vacs pressure controls and more. Youre the one making sure everything works the way its supposed to.Operating the Big Stuff
From dump trucks and backhoes to trenchers tampers and jackhammersyoull get to handle all kinds of heavy equipment. If it digs hauls or lifts chances are youll be using it at some point.Getting Sites Ready (and Cleaned Up)
Before and after the work youll prep job sites and clean them upwhether its in the middle of a street or out in the field. Youll also help keep the shop and tools in good shape.Keeping Things Safe
Youll help manage traffic around work zones making sure everyone stays safe while the job gets done right.Putting It All Back Together
Once the fix is in youll backfill trenches patch roads and make asphalt and concrete repairs. Youll even estimate how much those repairs will cost.Welding When Its Needed
If youve got welding skills youll use them to make pipeline repairs and keep equipment in top shape.HandsOn TeamOriented and Never Behind a Desk

Youre not afraid of overtime emergency callouts or holiday work. If a pipe breaks at 2AM youre the one who shows up ready to roll.What Youll Need to Bring to the Table:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bonus points if youve taken classes toward an AA in Water Distribution or a related field.
Certs & Licenses:
A Water Distribution Operator D1 Certificate Nice to have will be required within 6 months.
A Class A Commercial Drivers License with air brake & tanker endorsements Even better.
AWS D1.1 Welding Certificate Another big plus.
(If you dont have these yet no worrieswere still interested especially if youre motivated to earn them.
Experience:
12 years of construction work on roads pipelines or similar is required.
Landscaping experience Thats a plus.
Know your way around backhoes or excavators Even better.
Got pipeline welding or GIS experience Nice extras but not musthaves.
