Everett Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Special Education staff to teach an
inperson Special Education Summer Session Program to our Devens School students. This
program aims to provide social/emotional and academic support to promote and maintain
academic skills and socialemotional development according to the goals and benchmarks of
each students Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Crisis Management Plans (ICMP).
Grade Kindergarten Grade 11 Special Education (Teachers)
The special education teacher must be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in Schools
(TCIS) and will be responsible for implementing daily routines and developmentally appropriate
activities for students in small group educational classrooms based on their IEP and ICMP.
Teachers will collect data and report on progress at the end of the program. The special
education teacher will advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom.
They will collaborate with ancillary services staff in the implementation of IEP services.

Art Specialist
Specialists must be TCIS trained and will support special education students in small group art
or music instruction during the Devens School Summer Program. Specialists will support
students with all necessary life skills and assist the special education teacher with data
collection.

Program: Devens School Summer Program (Kindergarten to Grade 11
Working Times
SUMMER PROGRAM: Seventeen days of summer school depending on when school
ends in June from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m plus 25 hours of prep time
Required training dates June 17 and June 18th 8 AM3:00 PM (Dates tentative based on
last day of school)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and implement daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities for students
in small group educational classrooms based on their IEPs and ICMP.
Collect data on students IEP objectives and report on progress at the end of the program.
Collaborate with ancillary services staff in the implementation of IEP services.
Advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom.
Use best practices in ELA mathematics and other content areas that encourage higher
order thinking critical thinking and collaboration for students with disabilities.
Implement specific literacybased strategies identified for summer school and participate
in coaching opportunities to strengthen the implementation of the strategies.
Use the districts available technology and curricula to create engaging lessons and
supports linked with 21stcentury skills.
Manage classroom behavior with strategies that motivate students support an inclusive
learning community and empower students to participate actively and appropriately in all
program activities.
Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self
confidence teambuilding and informed decisionmaking.
Utilize inclusive practices that support students with disabilities and English language
learners.
Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that
promote twoway conversations.
Contribute to initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Principal Director of
Special Education and/or ESY Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts
Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Elementary Education Early Childhood Special
Education English as a Second Language or related fields.
Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in Schools (TCIS)
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in Education
3 or more years of experience working with special education students
Current EPS employee in good standing
Dual Licensure and/or relevant experience in Special Education and/or English as a
Second Language
Previous experience working in Extended School Year
Foreign Language Proficiency
