Are you interested in helping Amazon make history and redefine the meaning of fast in eCommerce We are the Same Day Delivery Experience team and are in the early innings of reinventing the Amazon shopping experience to make Amazon the first place customers think to shop when they need something today wherever they are in the world. Were looking for a Software Development Engineer II for the Same Day Delivery Experience team to help ensure we have a compelling and frictionfree delivery in hours experience available to our customers and help drive continuous innovation and improvement of the delivery experience across all phases of shopping buying and post purchase experience.
Every single retail purchase placed on Amazons retail websites uses our teams software.
Our systems process hundreds of millions of transactions per day.
Our teams work impacts millions of customers all over the world.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:
Build highly extensible software systems to meet the rapid growth of Amazons delivery business and capabilities.
Evolve and build services that are highly reliable and extremely low latency
Design the direction of the checkout delivery experience working with multiple different teams across the company
Build the next generation systems for representing delivery choices to enable rapid experimentation in the area of customer experience.
A day in the life
You will be working in a fastpaced environment on a team of smart software engineers to design and build the right technical solutions to meet the needs of the business. You will have direct ownership over the design of new components aimed at improving the platforms extensibility scalability availability and latency. We care about both delighting customers and high quality software; we dont sacrifice one for the other. Were looking for someone with a demonstrated track record of highlyscalable global software solutions.
About the team
Delivery speed is one of the biggest areas of investment for the Consumer business. We are the team responsible for launching Prime Free One Day and Sub Same Day Delivery looking for the right Engineers to help us tackle a bold and boundarypushing agenda. 3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
