Job Description
THE POSITION
The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a diligent professional with a dedication towards protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvanias citizens and environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Environmental Engineering Trainee you will participate in a oneyear formal and onthejob training program to learn the duties of an Environmental Engineer. You willlearn how to conduct engineering reviews in the field of hydrology and hydraulics in the Permit Section of the Waterways and Wetlands Program for implementation of the statewide programs for Dam Safety and Waterways Management and Floodplain Management mandated by the Dam Safety and Encroachment Act (Act 325 as amended) and the Floodplain Management Act (Act 166 and Erosion and Sediment Control under the Clean Streams Law. Technical permit application reviews as required by the Dams Safety and Encroachments Act entailconducting detailed review analysis and preparation of an engineering recommendation on applications for permits submitted by individuals corporations and municipal agencies as well as state and federal agencies.
Other specific duties include the review of hydrological and hydraulic computations design and installation of channels of conveyance and best management practices (BMPs) stormwater management facilities stabilization measures construction techniques materials specifications soils and agronomic considerations. You will also participate in preconstruction conferences and perform inspections of earthmoving activities and post construction BMPs individually or with the Conservation District.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Travel is required.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days per week. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64861.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering;or
- One year of experience in environmental engineering and possession of a valid EngineerinTraining certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid drivers license.
