The Senior Director of U.S. Access Strategy is responsible for developing a holistic U.S. market access strategy across Alexions portfolio ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and evolving market dynamics. This role involves establishing strategic and tactical plans for in line and launch assets including developing access strategies tactics budgets and goals to ensure appropriate access for Alexion products. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with crossfunctional stakeholders to integrate access considerations into broader commercial brand plans launch plans and developing access strategies in collaboration with global teams. This role is based in Alexions Boston headquarters and reports to the Executive Director US Access Strategy & Marketing.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing market access launch plans for medical and pharmacy benefit products in rare disease including budget requirements and insights required for first and only and competitive launches
- Leveraging insights from previous launches and sharing relevant learnings with access strategy and pipeline strategy stakeholders as needed
- Establishing access goals by brand for product within Alexions portfolio
- Developing strategies and tactics to achieve access goals including messaging positioning and leveraging Medical HEOR & evidence assessments advocacy groups and a products clinical value proposition to secure competitive access
- Collaborating with Account Management team to execute on access strategies and gain insights into payer strategies to help ensure access upon launch during life cycle management
- Monitoring competitive landscape and payer trends to adjust access strategies as needed anticipating impact on patients ability to gain access to the medications
- Sharing access related insights to be integrated into broader commercial plans
- Working with global and crossfunctional teams to develop access strategy for launch brands and provide US market access insight into brand and launch strategies
- Collaborating with Alexion patient advocacy teams on access education initiatives with advocacy groups and other such pullthrough initiatives
- Coordinate with public policy and government affairs teams on opportunities to protect and gain access and stay up to date on market and legislative trends to adjust strategies
- Coordinate with HEOR/Medical teams to ensure alignment between evidence generation andmarket access for developing and evolving the value proposition
- Providing a robust U.S. Market Access perspective to global and access strategy stakeholders to assess market access implications for BD and acquisition products and to support the development of market access strategies for pipeline assets
- Performing preliminary landscape assessments and horizon scanning for competitor launches in coordination with internal marketing and competitive intelligence teams
- Working with global and the Senior Director of Strategic Pricing Management to conduct earlystage primary and secondary pricing research using appropriate methodologies
- Working with global teams and brand teams to develop riskmitigation strategies for launch products
- Collaborating with contract strategy stakeholders to consider contracting opportunities and GTN expectations for pipeline and BD products
You will need to have:
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of study
- 10 years experience in U.S. managed care
- 4 years experience in a pharmaceutical strategy role
- Knowledge of the business models influence/impact and decision drivers of U.S. commercial and government payers as well as channel customers
- Market access strategy launch experience
- Understanding of access utilized by commercial and government payers under the medical and pharmacy benefits in a competitive and first in class environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously work independently as well as with a team possess strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience leading a crossfunctional team of colleagues without a direct reporting relationship
- Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives
- Ability to effectively communicate complex business challenges and datadriven recommendations to senior leaders
- Up to 20 travel as required.

- MBA MPH PharmD or other advanced degree
- Clinical technical and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease states
