Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Undergraduate Academic Advisor I Davie FL.
The FAU College of Business is one of the largest AACSBaccredited business schools in the United States with more than 8000 students. The Undergraduate Academic Advisor I will provide specialized academic advising services to undergraduate business students and students in other colleges seeking a College of Business minor or certificate. The advisor will deliver tailored academic guidance and assist students in the development of an education plan including choosing a program of study and/or clarifying educational and professional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Individualized Academic Advising:
- Maintains uptodate knowledge about the Colleges programs and requirements
- Advises students about the courses and requirements for degree programs and/or transfer requirements for a particular program of study
- Informs students about alternatives limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding dropping withdrawing change of major attempts)
- Educates students about course planning and registration processes and refers to available resources to meet individual needs including career and personal development
- Makes appropriate referrals to students perceived as atrisk and acts as an advocate as appropriate
- Develops and maintains operating procedures that minimize the likelihood and impact of errors
- Monitors student academic plans to provide timely proactive outreach to ensure degree progress and timely graduation using defined learning outcomes
- Reinforces and supports student degree progress academic success and retention in alignment with university strategic goals and initiatives
- Participates in student recruitment and onboarding activities for on and offcampus events and assists with orientation programs
- Participates in individual and team professional development and remains current with technology used to provide advising services.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of experience required.Preferred qualifications:
Higher education experience within admissions or academic advising.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students.
A track record of successfully navigating professional environments.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Salary:
