You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailCooley is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the London Accounting & Finance department on a 14 month fixed term contract.
Position Summary: The primary focus of this role is to provide financial analysis and reporting support to the Finance Manager Europe and Director of Finance Europe. Additional responsibilities include Partner US tax support LLP compliance and regulation and company secretarial duties.
The position requires highly developed IT skills (especially Excel) and excellent knowledge of 3e. The supporting role requires knowledge of billing collections AR WIP SRA and statutory regulation. The role requires handling of sensitive and highly confidential information. The individual plays a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the London Finance team.
Specific responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
Position Responsibilities
Financial Analysis
Production of regular month end and ad hoc reporting with analysis.
Assistance with month end close procedures such as processing prepayments/accruals other month end journals and control account reconciliations.
Produce month end reports for the Director of Finance Europe and other senior management.
Prepare yearend adjustments including prepayments and accruals.
Produce bespoke month end reports for Practice Group Heads.
Provide assistance to the Director of Finance Europe Finance Manager Europe the Co Partners In Charge (UK) UK partners and staff/directors both in the US and UK.
Liaise with report writers in the US to produce a suite of reports for the London and Brussels office.
Produce and analyse time and hours reports for management.
Produce quarterly reports and income analysis with prior year comparisons and present in PowerPoint.
Primary responsibility for the production and analysis of data to complete industry and government surveys (e.g. returns for the Office for National Statistics).
Preparation of the monthly average headcount analysis for the Director of Finance Europe to be included in the statutory audited accounts annually.
Assisting budget holders with budget input reporting and variance analysis.
Provide training and champion the use of FinIQ to the partners and associates.
VAT Place of Supply Consideration report monthly.
Updating London and Brussels Incidents Log.
SQL Reports.
US Tax Filings and Support
Administering the filing of partner US tax returns for London and Brussels partners.
Maintaining accurate records of US filings.
Compliance Role
Data integrity review of London office headcount from time to time.
Dealing with aspects of partner joiners and leavers including updating SRA account and submitting Companies House filings.
Maintaining the UK and US LLP mySRA accounts.
Producing financial information for the renewal of the firms professional indemnity insurance.
Applying for Tax Residency Certificates and completing MOD 21 forms and preparing 10F forms.
General
Providing support to UK directors and timekeepers.
Providing client information and reports to marketing and business intelligence departments.
Providing support on an ad hoc basis.
All other duties as assigned or required.
Skills & Experience:
Required:
Accountant or partqualified accountant / equivalent qualification desirable.
Previous experience of working in a US law firm.
Proficiency in Excel (advanced level) Microsoft Word Outlook InTApp Adobe Acrobat FileSurf and 3e.
SQL report writing preferred.
Knowledge of general accounting principles and bookkeeping an advantage.
Available to work overtime as required.
