Introduction
Cape Henlopens beaches attract thousands of visitors who enjoy everything from ocean swimming boating fishing and kayaking to clamming paddleboarding and windsurfing. But Cape Henlopen offers more than just the ocean and bays. A wide selection of activities and programs for children and adults are led by Seaside Nature Center staff each week.

Summary Statement
A variety of seasonal Park Interpreter positions may be available at Cape Henlopen State Park:
Park Interpreter: $16.75 Responsible for developing and conducting interpretive programs that will increase the students and visitors awareness of their surrounding environment and foster the appreciation enjoyment and utilization of Delaware State Parks cultural and natural resources. In addition this post involves the care and maintenance of the Nature Centers live animal exhibits.
Historical Park Interpreter: $16.75 Duties will include assisting with the museums collection and working with historic weapons at Fort Miles.
Assistant Day Camp Director: $17.00 responsible for leading daily activities for summer day camps. Duties include creating and maintaining a fun positive and safe camp environment for campers and staff.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors weekends evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. - May deliver interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
- May Interpret the history of Fort Miles to visitors on a daily basis.
- May become black powder certified and fire a World War IIera artillery piece.
- Develop and maintain exhibits park bulletin boards and educational material.
- Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
- May lead educational and recreational hikes for park visitors.
- May include live animal care and handling.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Park Interpreter
months experience working with children and young adults such as environmental educator/classroom assistant academic/athletic tutoring camp counselor or youth volunteer.
with care and handling of animals.
of natural cultural historical resources or parks and recreation.
of public speaking or interpretation.
of a valid Drivers License (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).
Historical Park Interpreter
coursework in history or interpretation.
teaching and/or interpretation with public groups.
with care and maintenance historical artifacts and/or research.
of WWII history and local Delaware history preferred.
of public speaking or interpretation.
of a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).
Assistant Day Camp Director
be at least 20 years of age.
year experience working in a camp program for children or young adults.
year experience in supervising groups staff or volunteers.
of various recreational activities such as hiking mountain biking boating rock climbing or swimming.
of local plants animals or history.
of a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a nonpension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
