Job Position Title: Administrative Assistant

Direct Report: Cindy Avila Senior Program Manager for the Food is Medicine in Cancer Care Initiative

The VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking to hire an administrative assistant to report to the senior program manager of the Food is Medicine in Cancer Care Food Resource Center initiative. This initiative is currently being funded by a generous threeyear grant from the McKesson corporation.

This is a fulltime restricted staff position within the Massey Cancer Center. The employee is required to work onsite. Remote work is NOT an option.

Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:

The administrative assistant will assist the Senior Program Manager with the implementation of this threeyear grant. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Distribution of food boxes to identified food insecure patients.
• Connecting patients to longterm resources through the Unite Us platform.
• Contacting cancer patients identified as food insecure to inform them of the availability of food resources.
• Tracking the distribution of food boxes
• Documenting patient contacts within the electronic medical records
• Administering surveys designed to assess the impact of this initiative.
• Ensuring adequate stocking of the food resource center.
• Assisting with cooking demonstrations.
• Assisting senior program manager with other duties and tasks that ensure the sustainability and growth of this initiative.

Minimum Hiring Standards:

• Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to be flexible in job duties as needed
• Must have prior experience working in a healthcare facility/working with patients
• Must be willing to undergo additional training such as food safety handling certification learning to use the electronic medical record system undergo research coordinator level of training.
• Must have personal mode of transportation.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Must be highly motivated independent but able to take direction as needed.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
