Your next career opportunity
As a Research Assistant in the Ralph Lab at the University of Melbourne youll have the opportunity to contribute to NHMRC and ARC funded research in malaria biology. Youll work on critical issues such as antimicrobial resistance and parasite drug targets utilising advanced techniques in parasite cell culture molecular biology and microscopy. This role offers you the chance to develop your research skills contribute to publications and work in a collaborative environment at the prestigious Bio21 Molecular Science & Biotechnology Institute.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Innovative Research: Undertake experiments in malaria biology aiming to publish original findings in refereed journals.
  • Apply Advanced Laboratory Techniques: Perform a variety of parasite biology and cell biological procedures with high expertise and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to Lab Management: Assist with OH&S paperwork research ethics permits and maintenance of laboratory operating procedures.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Participate in lab meetings liaise with team members and collaborators and contribute to manuscript preparation.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a motivated scientist with a bachelors degree in biology (Honours or Masters) experienced in biochemical molecular biology or microbiology techniques and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

You may also:

  • Have experience in malaria parasite cell culture molecular and cellular biology or omics approaches.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory OH&S procedures and ethical research practices.
  • Have experience with laboratoryrelated computer packages and data analysis.
  • Show initiative and commitment to achieving scientific goals.
