You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe College of Nursing at Texas A&M University is seeking a faculty member with experience in forensic nursing forensic health care and vulnerable populations for a fulltime (nontenure track) appointment in Bryan Texas. The position is a fulltime 9month appointment with a potential summer contract beginning in March 2025. Applicants will be considered for the titles of Research Assistant Professor Research Associate Professor or Research Professor depending on experience and qualifications. Rank and salary are commensurate with credentials and experience.
The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional Second degree and RN to BSN) MSNFamily Nurse Practitioner MSNNursing Education MSNForensic Nursing DNP graduate certificate in Forensic Health Care and PMHNP postgraduate certificate. Future plans include a PhD program an Aerospace Nursing and Extreme Environment Health Care program and additional graduate and postgraduate certificate programs. We are a growing college within Texas A&M University with programs located in Bryan Texas (primary location) Round Rock Texas and a new campus location in McAllen is planned for Spring 2026.
The College of Nursing is one of five colleges that comprise the Texas A&M Health Science Center. Drawing from our vast network of scientists educators and clinical partners we educate highly qualified graduates who are equipped to address the health needs of an everchanging population in Texas the nation and the world. Texas A&M University is located in the twin cities of Bryan and College Station TX. It is home to over 70000 students and is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities.
The position will be located in the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing (CEFN) a College of Nursing and Health Science Center entity. CEFN is leading the state and nation in educating forensic nurses and delivering quality health care through its telehealth program. Expansion into research is the next step for CEFN and this position will lead the development of CEFNs research program.
Responsibilities include:
Research/Scholarship
All research track faculty are expected to generate and disseminate new knowledge consistent with rank. General expectations include active participation in research and scholarship and dissemination through publications/presentations. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following research activities:
Service
All faculty are expected to participate in service activities to the University the College and to the profession. Additionally engagement in community service opportunities are encouraged.
The anticipated start date 3/1/2025.
Required Education:
Earned DNP or PhD
Required Experience:
Experience in research methodology and advanced statistical coursework and professional peer reviewed publications in the areas of forensic nursing forensic health care or vulnerable populations as a lead or colead author.
Research experience related to conducting and disseminating nursing research primarily focused on forensic nursing forensic health care and vulnerable populations. Experience with complex multivariate data analysis literature synthesis and ability to write scientific articles and report findings commensurate with a doctoral degree.
Experience in developing successful grant proposals at state and federal levels.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong writing public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to lead as well as to function as a strong collaborator on interprofessional teams.
Highly organized.

Ability to multitask and establish effective working relationships.
Knowledge and understanding of the mission and role of the Land Grant University System.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral education
Earned DNP or PhD in nursing
PhD in a related field with at least one graduate degree in nursing
Successful completion of a oneyear postdoctoral fellowship
Demonstrated ability to publish in top tier academic journals
