This unique role combines the responsibilities of a Capability Lead and a Line Manager for Java/Open Source in India. The individual will not only help shape Version 1s engineering standards but also oversee the growth and management of Java/Open Source roles in India ensuring streamlined operations upskilling and project delivery.
Objectives & Responsibilities:
- Lead the Java capability building unity and standardization.
- Organize and lead knowledge sharing and standardization efforts.
- Drive adoption of best practices across Version 1.
- Identify and address training needs.
- Stay updated on market trends and ensure Version 1 is in line with them.
- Oversee all Java/Open Source roles in India including developers tech leads and architects.
- Manage growth plans and ensure capacity meets demands collaborating with UKDDC Java/Open Source practice lead.
- Work in tandem with UKDDC Java/Open Source practice head for resource allocation and rotation (for India resources).
- Foster the Java/Open Source community by developing best practices checklists coding standards productivity tools and more.
- Spearhead competence growth plans based on project needs and market trends.
- Aid in presales initiatives from the Java/Open Source practice.
- Participate in engineering reviews for projects with relevant technology providing guidance to the team.
- Act as the escalation point for Java/Open Source deliveries from India.
- Support Portfolio Directors to provide advice across all aspects of commercial engagements: compiling and reviewing estimates presales responses reviewing TORs/SOWS mobilising staffing needs etc.

Qualifications :
Skills & Experience Required:
- 6 years of development experience with a minimum of years of team lead experience.
- Evidence of drive innovation communication organisational and reporting skills.
- Expert in OpenSource languages (Java)
- Experience in CI/CD tool chains (e.g. Git Jenkins Sonar Cube Junit) is necessary.
- Experience in Micro services design and development using frameworks like Springboot is preferred.
- Experience in Docker K8 is preferred.
- Experience in web development (e.g. Angular / ReactJS / VueJS etc. is an advantage.
- Experience of leading development teams at scale.
- Expertise on best practices for design development testing and deployment of web applications.
- Strong commitment to code quality and strong technical and business writing and estimation skills
- Proficiency in implementing Enterprise Architecture Design and Integration patterns.
- Certification / handson experience in cloud computing platforms is preferred. AWS Lambda development experience is an advantage.
- Experience in Banking / Financial Services / Insurance is an advantage.
