Job Description

INTERIM: REFLECTION FACILITATOR TEACHER ASSISTANT

Nature of Work:

The School Reflections and SEL Facilitator is responsible for creating a positive and supportive school environment by implementing the reflection process for students who may need guidance after behavioral incidents. This role uses restorative practices to help students develop selfawareness manage emotions build positive relationships and make responsible decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a structured reflection process for students following behavioral incidents helping them understand the impact of their actions.
  • Conduct oneonone or small group reflection sessions under the guidance of the school counselor in order to work toward restorative actions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students in need of reflection time and support them in reintegrating back into the classroom positively.
  • Track and document reflection sessions outcomes and followup needs to support students growth and behavior change.
  • Performs other related work as required to promote student academic social emotional and physical wellbeing.
  • Supports students with core SEL skills focusing on skills such as selfregulation empathy problemsolving and positive social interactions.
  • Support schoolwide SEL initiatives such as peer mentoring communitybuilding activities and resiliencebuilding workshops.
  • Serve on schoolbased teams as required.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of SEL interventions using data to refine strategies and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with schoolbased situations.
  • Act as a liaison between students families and school staff to foster open communication and ensure a supportive approach to behavioral and emotional development.
  • Communicate with teachers regularly regarding issues affecting the students academic progress.
  • Collaborate with administration to align the reflections program with the schools overall mission vision and goals.
  • Stay informed of the latest research and best practices in SEL and restorative practices and seek opportunities for continuous growth.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as required.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Training.
  • Perform other duties assigned by school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Two year degree preferably in the field of education counseling or social work with knowledge of SocialEmotional Learning and/or restorative practices in an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage positively with students families and staff.
  • Understanding of traumainformed practices and restorative approaches.
  • Organizational skills for documenting and tracking student progress effectively.
  • Ability to create and maintain a schedule.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Empathy patience and adaptability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Experience working with students needed additional support in the total school environment.
