Job Description
Position Purpose
The primary role of this English Language Learner (ELL) Writing Center Tutor role is to systematically and consistently provide learning support services to English Language Learning students in a positive and efficient delivery process by serving as an academic tutor. ELL tutors will focus on the unique needs of students who are learning English as they complete their academic requirements.
The central role of a ELL Writing Center Tutor is to provide academic support for students as they complete writing tasks. Our tutorsplay an essential rolewith our student success by helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments.
Position Start Date:This position is scheduled to begin at the start of the upcoming fall semester (August 25th or after). We are currently accepting applications in anticipation of this upcoming need.
Location of Work: Stark State North Canton and Akron locations.
Typical Hours of Work:(varies based upon availability)
In person the Writing Center is open 9am5pm MonThu and 10am4pm on Fridays. Scheduledshifts are dependent on employee availability.

Typical Responsibilities Include:- Oneonone tutoring group tutoring studio sessions in both inperson
- Presentations/ orientations
- Development of supplemental materials
- Completing tutor reports
- Reviewing faculty/class files & student files
- Various administrative tasks
To be Considered Youll Need:
Bachelors degree in English or a directly related field is required. Masters degree in English or directly field is preferred although not required.
TESOL Certification is preferred.
Two years of oneonone and group tutoring experience preferred.
