Job Description

Farmington School DistrictPOSITION TITLE: Special Education ParaprofessionalFLSA: NonExemptREPORTS TO: District LEA & PrincipalLENGTH OF CONTRACT: 178 daysMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associates degree 60 college credit hours or passing score on ParaPro Praxis exam or other acceptable JOB FUNCTIONS:Share and lead the vision to create an individualized education program for each all targeted interventions and assisting in courses as between instructors and individual or small group in implementing behavior management clerical duties which may include: collection and recording of data preparing classroom materials and entering data into a computer conferences or meetings as deemed appropriate/ appropriate training sessions. If applicable annually obtain a specified number of professional development students to general education classroom cafeteria playground restroom and or other locations on the school in community based instruction student programming assessments and/or screenings per instrument administration guidelines/evaluator familiar with technology and have the capacity to learn quickly. Demonstrate the willingness to learn procedures when working with students and have a solid understanding of classroom in the implementation of the IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and/or district the required module trainings required by ADE for paraprofessionalsParticipates in the implementation of student behavior plans for the purpose of ensuring effective and safe student instruction under the supervision of the teacher to the students in a variety of individual or group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans and ensuring students success in emotional control under duties as perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability SKILLSAbility to read and understand documents such as policy manuals safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to compute rate ratio percent and to interpret bar THINKING SKILLSAbility to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine RECEIVEDUnder general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work referring all questionable cases to the responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time method manner and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of DEMANrations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organizations administration and operation; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVINGFairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided OF MACHINES EQUIPMENTS AND/OR COMPUTERSRegular use of complex machines and equipment. (computer fax laminator copier printer or iPad)PUBLIC CONTACTFrequent contacts with the general public patrons or other outside representatives wherein the manner of handling these contacts has a bearing on the organizations position and operation. Employees must adhere to the districts confidentiality CONTACTContacts of considerable importance within the department or office such as those required in coordination of effort or frequent contacts with other departments or offices generally in the normal course of performing duties.
