As part of the CHEO Regional Genetics Program the Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory provides comprehensive diagnostic genetic and genomic testing for both the pediatric and adult populations in Eastern Ontario Western Quebec and Nunavut. The Laboratory provides testing for a number of inherited diseases through its Molecular Genetics section as well as testing for several constitutional conditions and acquired chromosome abnormalities through its Cytogenetics section.
A wide variety of methodologies are currently performed in the Laboratory; these include PCR Sanger Sequencing Next Generation Sequencing MLPA Gel Electrophoresis Optical Genome Mapping and Southern Blotting in the Molecular Genetics section and Karyotyping Tissue Culture FISH Microarray QFPCR qPCR and MLPA in the Cytogenetics section.
Technologists may rotate through different work areas as required.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who wish to use a variety of technical and analytical skills.
In addition to qualified Technologists we encourage applications from students and new graduates of an accredited Genetics Training Program; credentials and education in process will be considered.
Your responsibilities will include the following:

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive prescreening and evaluation process. Dans le cadre du Programme rgional de gntique de CHEO le laboratoire de diagnostic en gntique fournit des tests diagnostiques de gntique approfondis la fois pour les adultes et les enfants et adolescents de lest de lOntario de louest du Qubec et du Nunavut. Le laboratoire fournit des tests pour un certain nombre de maladies hrditaires grce sa section de gntique molculaire ainsi que des tests pour plusieurs conditions constitutionnelles et anomalies chromosomiques acquises grce sa section de cytogntique.
Une grande varit de mthodes sont actuellement utilises au laboratoire notamment la PCR le squenage de Sanger le squenage de nouvelle gnration la MLPA llectrophorse sur gel la cartographie optique du gnome et le Southern Blotting dans la section de gntique molculaire le caryotype la culture tissulaire la FISH les biopuces la QFPCR la qPCR et la MLPA dans la section de cytogntique.
Les technologues peuvent effectuer une rotation dans diffrents domaines de travail selon les besoins.
Nous recherchons des personnes enthousiastes qui souhaitent utiliser une varit de comptences techniques et analytiques.
En plus des technologues qualifis nous encourageons les candidatures dtudiants et de nouveaux diplms dun programme de formation en gntique agr; les titres et la formation en cours seront pris en compte.
