Job Description
Position:Head Coach: Tennis
Campus:Dickinson High School
Wage/Hour Status: Stipend
Immediate Supervisor(s): Coordinator of Athlectics
Pay Grade:Stipend attached to a teaching position(click here to see Compensation Manual)
Days Employed:Per Compensation Manual
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Plan organize and direct theprogram
- Work withathletes during practices events and competitions
- Assess skills and assign team positions
- Choose team members
- Organize practice sessions
- Monitor each athlete recommend safe techniques and supervise warmups
- Selfmotivation creativity and the ability to deliver constructive criticism
- Extendedhours beyond the school day (weekdays & weekends)
- Willingness to learn and follow district policies and procedures
- Abide by district policies and dress code
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have proven evidence of adequate preparation background and ability required by the position
- Must be a certified teacher for grades 912
- Be committed to implementing and enforcing policies and following prescribed procedures
- Have the skill to make and effectively communicate timely decisions
- Foster creativity and be responsible for innovative ideas
Education/Certification:
- CPR/First Aid Class
- Concussion
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules regulations strategies and techniques of the sport
- Experience in tennis strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Experience:
- Experience as a Tennis coach
- Experience at the high school level
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
MINOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work withathletes during practices and games
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Create handouts of rules for the seasons upcoming dates tryout criteria and other information about the upcoming season
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the principal Athletic Director or other appropriate administrators
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and direct the JV coach
- Maintain a physically safe practice environment and plan effective practices
- Maintain budget
EXPECTATIONS OF MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Tools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
- Motion:Frequent walking and reaching frequent standing; kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
- Lifting:Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); heavy lifting 45 pounds or over)
- Environment:Work inside and outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (body fluids bacteria communicable diseases)
- Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Ability to interact positively and proactively with students with behavioral concerns communicate verbally and inwriting
- Professional Dress: Dress must be clean neat in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. During work hours visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed.
EVALUATIONS:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated annually
