Job Summary
The Learning Abroad Peer Advisor position is an employment opportunity in Learning Abroad for students at the University of Utah. Learning Abroad Peer Advisors are primarily responsible for representing Learning Abroad and promoting Learning Abroad opportunities to the campus community. Primary tasks include administrative duties at the front desk classroom presentations tabling collaborating with oncampus offices and student groups participating in various event committees conducting exploratory and dropin advising appointments and assisting the Marketing Team in any ongoing projects and initiatives. Furthermore this position entails additional responsibilities that help support the mission and initiatives of Learning Abroad. The Marketing Peer Advisor will also gain experience managing an Instagram account and creating a content portfolio for future positions especially in marketing Applicants are not required to have participated in a Learning Abroad Program however previous Learning Abroad experience is preferred. The positions are workstudy eligible. The Learning Abroad office is hiring for two 2 positions: the Marketing Peer Advisor and the FacultyLed Peer Advisor.
Responsibilities
FacultyLed Peer Advisor and Marketing Peer Advisor Present to oncampus classes residence halls student groups etc. to increase participation in Learning Abroad by all members of the University of Utah student community including populations underrepresented in learning abroad; Conduct exploratory and dropin advising appointments with students who are seeking to learn abroad; Do outreach through emails and phone calls to students with pending applications; Help with the preparation and facilitation of Learning Abroads Fall and Spring Fairs enrollment events as well as other outreach events for the Office of Admissions and other campus partners; Communicate promptly with Learning Abroad staff and all affiliated faculty staff and students while ensuring excellent customer service and a high degree of professionalism; Practice consistently a high level of attention to detail and superior organizational skills to execute tasks; Assist with general tasks and ongoing projects and initiatives in the Learning Abroad office when necessary; FacultyLed Peer Advisor Assist with programs information sessions and recruitment Assist with application management Marketing Peer Advisor Utilize graphic design or videomaking skills to create compelling content for our social media channels. Capture reallife moments with students showcasing campus life and marketing initiatives. Proficiency in tools such as Canva Adobe Creative Suites CutPro or CapCut is a plus. As part of your application please submit at least one sample that showcases your photography skills social media reels or graphic design work. Bring fresh ideas to the team contributing to innovative marketing campaigns and strategies. Collaborate with other advisors and staff to enhance student engagement. Manage and curate content for our Instagram account. Comfortable with public speaking and networking; not shy to approach and interact with fellow students. Ideal for students interested in marketing communications or related fields.
Minimum Qualifications
Maintain good standing and fulltime status at the University of Utah Notify Learning Abroad if employed by any other office or department at the University of Utah Demonstrate a minimum availability (scheduling flexibility) of 10 hours per week Commit to two semesters (one academic year) of employment
