Job Description

QUALITY MANAGER

OPERATIONS

Calyx Containers exists to solve some of the largest problems facing the budding cannabis industry: packaging and inventory management. Rooted in the cannabis industry our passion is transforming how people transport brand and consume the products they love. Weve developed a suite of packaging products for flower concentrates joints in addition to a modular tray system designed to standardize the transportation and reconciliation process. Weve made it easier for industries requiring childresistant packaging to be compliant in a unique and modern way.

At Calyx we hold sustainability as a core value in all decision making processes. This is the foundation for our mission: to design manufacture and sell >1 billion nonfossil fuel based products. Working towards a closed loop system for 100 product reprocessing with many products and patents pending were delivering on our promise to improve the way that businesses are run in the legal cannabis industry and beyond.

We are seeking a Quality Manager to ensure that Calyx procedures and practices meet the organizations longterm growth goals and that the companys products comply with all Federal state and local quality statutory and regulatory requirements. He/she will design and implement the Calyx Quality Management System (QMS) and drive the use of worldclass strategies technologies resources and processes in support of quality initiatives that help deliver customer delight. Candidate must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build and lead a team along with the demonstrated ability to influence change and challenge the status quo with respect to opportunities for improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and manages an agenda to define measure analyze improve and control all processes that impact quality in design production and service.
  • Manages various qualityrelated Key Performance Indicators product holds complaints reporting events CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) program SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Report) process and other standardized quality norms.
  • Manages product recall activities to include recall policies and procedures for the company. Additionally manages product compliance activities and processes along with the Innovation and Product Development team.
  • Leads CAPA Review Board and Quality Monitoring Board to ensure CAPAs are initiated as appropriate resource allocations tracking as well as CAPA review and approval.
  • Creates and deploys quality strategy as part of overarching quality roadmap for business management and quality systems thus ensuring consistent standardized of processes.
  • Creates reviews and/or appends supplier/vendor quality agreements providing Operations leaders with recommended changes which align with internal quality standards.
  • Develops and maintains an effective understanding of US and international regulatory bodies and authorities. Ensures that companys products meet customer requirements and applicable quality standards.
  • Develops modifies and executes company policies that affect immediate operations. Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an indepth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Ensures all products comply with relevant safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Assists with disposition of nonconforming materials and products.
  • Regularly interacts with vendors/suppliers on matters concerning the alignment of quality approaches and procedures an input being regularly determined or ad hoc quality audits.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • 7 years industry experience in QA in an industrial environment with a focus on the high volume production of high performance discrete products.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory issues and the ability to develop and implement a cuttingedge Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Proven capability driving ISOstipulated business management processes and procedures.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and/or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) through ASQ is a plus.
  • Analytical mindset with strong statistical and problemsolving skills. Lean Six Sigma certification desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to develop effective internal and external relationships with clients and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability and desire to build and lead a quality assurance team.
  • Advanced Excel experience and competence in statistical analytical software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to be hands on in a production environment and be onsite in West Valley facility 5 days a week

An ideal candidate:

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • 1015 years of professional experience in the quality assurance field.
  • Previous proven experience in the field of digital printing technologies with a proven familiarity with and understanding of high speed automation systems.
  • CQA and/or CQM certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate global regulations requirements and standards such as 21 CFR Parts 803 806 and 820 European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC) Canadian Medical Devices Regulation (SOR/98282 and ISO 9001 ISO13485 and ISO14971.
