Summary: Exercise prudence in carrying out the assigned duties and must be able to report any difficulties or unusual problems to the teachers and other school personnel. Responsible for proper supervision at recess whether indoor or outdoor and must be physically capable of prolonged standing walking and stooping.
Major Responsibilities:Assists in organizing activities and games during recess for various student(s)/groups as assignedMay direct students in gathering materials games balls or other items to be used during the that items are returned to their proper location after useGives special attention to safety factors when weather or other circumstances occurImmediately reports any injury or unusual problems to the professional staffPositive communication/interactions with students recessProvides encouragement to students during all activities by staying in a reasonable proximity to the surrounding areasRestricting students from roughhousing horseplay or other inappropriate behaviorDismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled timeChecking the playground daily and appropriately addressing ground and equipment hazardsResponding appropriately to emergenciesAdditional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend
Qualifications:High school diploma or EquivalencyOne year of experience preferredMust be capable of extensive walking standing stooping bending and lifting up to 40 pounds independentlyDemonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
