Job Description

Sr District Operations Manager / Transportation & Hauling
Waterloo Ontario
C$150000 to C$160000 Bonus SIGNING BONUS Paid Relocation

Job SummaryAs theSenior Operations District Manageryou will be responsible for managing the financial performance and productivity of multiple Operating Units. You will ensure that Operating Units meet or exceed annual objectives and you will be responsible to successfully implement organizational initiatives. Additionally in this role you will be responsible for the Onboarding Developing Coaching Mentoring and Performance Management of all District Managers.

This role is based out of Waterloo and is responsible for overseeing our Sites in Waterloo Mount Forest London and Sarnia. Travel will be between Waterloo Mount Forest London and Sarnia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an area of responsibility operating plan consistent with accomplishing the longrange established objectives enhancing effectiveness and delineating responsibilities and authority.
  • Develops direct reports.
  • Reviews and evaluates performance with an area of responsibility continuingly and establishes proper performance measures
  • Counsels managers on of programs ad when necessary provides direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans per prevailing business conditions.
  • Develops operating unit budget in a timely manner forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.
  • Assists managers in budget optimization; provides budget compliance support.
  • Oversees department personnel needs including selecting coaching and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination compensation and promotion decisions.
  • Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities.
  • Attends regularly scheduled Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews and executes prescribed programs on routing equipment utilization equipment maintenance and labor and material costs.
  • Implements and maintains programs to improve the Market Areas safety productivity and profitability; Ensures compliance with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)/Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and other Federal and Provincial regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree or High School Diploma GED or equivalent and two 2 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience: 5 years of prior work experience (in addition to education requirement) in Operations Management including at least three years managing a team of two or more individuals required.
  • Preferred: experience in a senior operations leadership role managing Managers and overseeing multiple sites

Requirements

  • Must be able to maintain a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record throughout the duration of employment in this position.
  • Experience in a position involving operations customer service community relations health and safety financial and human resources function; experience as a supervisor or manager; experience implementing safety (OH&S) programs and equipment specifications; experience preparing and managing budgets and experience resolving labor relations issues required.
