QUALIFICATIONS:
Ritenour Teacher Residents are diverse candidates who believe that all students are capable of academic achievement and are ready to make a difference in St. Louis schools. We look for candidates with a variety of backgrounds including recent college graduates working professionals and career changers. To be eligible to apply all candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelors degree completed by July 2025 in any area of study
- Cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher
- A commitment to work at Ritenour School District for a total of four years.

- All Ritenour Teacher Residents must first apply and be accepted into Teach St. Louis and then interview and be accepted by the Ritenour School District. Upon full acceptance Teacher Residents will be matched with a training site placement at Ritenour.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
During the initial apprenticeship year residents receive a salary aligned with Ritenours Paraprofessional Salary Schedule ranging from $29746 to $41369 depending on prior experience along with full health benefits and Paid Time Off. Residents are also provided a permanent teaching position at Ritenour upon completion of the apprenticeship year. In year 2 Teacher Residents become leadteachers earning a fulltime teacher salary.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Ritenour Resident Teacher
Position Summary:The Ritenour Resident Teacher is a position created exclusively for persons accepted into Teach St. Louis Residency program and committed to Ritenour School District. Teach St. Louis is designed as an apprenticeship program where program participants earn their Missouri teaching licensure in secondary Math or Science as well as a masters degree from Washington University. Throughout the duration of the program Resident Teachers work in a Ritenour School District school. Resident Teachers will complete their initial residency year at one of the programs Ritenour training sites coteaching with an experienced mentor teacher. After successful completion of the residency year Teacher Residents are certified and become leadteachers within the Ritenour School District. In the second year as a leadteacher Teacher Residents continue coursework at Washington University earning a Master of Art in Teaching and Learning at the end of year two.
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:
- Complete a rigorous fullyear classroom apprenticeship coteaching Monday Thursday with an experienced mentor teacher at a Ritenour School District training site school.
- On Fridays and one weekday evening participate in aligned graduatelevel coursework with Teach St. Louis preparing them to effectively serve students in urban schools and Ritenour classrooms.
- Earn initial teacher certification in the state of Missouri and a Masters degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
- Receive ongoing instructional coaching during their first two years in the program.
- Commit to leadteach in a Ritenour District school for 3 years after the initial apprenticeship year.
