Role Overview
This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead Birmingham City Councils Pay Policy and Job Evaluation Compliance function ensuring a peoplefirst approach thar underpins every aspect of delivery. As a strategic specialist youll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering futurefocused compliant and innovative people strategies that directly support the Councils strategic objectives. With a strong focus on equality fairness and legislative alignment youll influence key decisionmaking through evidencebased insight and comprehensive workforce analysis.
You will lead on the development of total reward strategies oversee job evaluation and pay compliance processes and drive continuous improvement across all contractual and pay frameworks. Acting as a strategic partner youll work closely with senior leaders Trade Unions and key stakeholders to ensure transparent and fair outcomes for all employeessupporting the Council to attract retain and reward talent while minimising risk and ensuring longterm value
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic delivery of pay policy and job evaluation compliance ensuring alignment with legislation council terms and conditions and best practice.
Design and implement total reward strategies including pay modelling equal pay audits and the annual Pay Policy Statement to support evidencebased workforce planning.
Act as the strategic lead for job evaluation ensuring a fair transparent and legally compliant process that upholds equal pay principles.
Partner with Trade Unions on collective agreements including the annual pay award ensuring financial and organisational impacts are fully understood and reported.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of reward and compliance initiatives using data insights to drive continuous improvement and mitigate risk across the Council
About You
A strategic and experienced people professional with a strong background in pay reward policy and compliance within complex unionised environments. Bringing extensive experience in leading initiatives that shape and evolve people policies. Adept at diagnosing organisational needs and translating insight into evidencebased solutions that align with broader people strategies.
Skilled in managing highimpact projects navigating conflicting demands and delivering innovative futurefocused outcomes. Combines excellent interpersonal influencing and communication skills with a dataled mindset to drive continuous improvement. Comfortable providing highlevel advice and guidance on reward and job evaluation with a deep understanding of how to align policy with operational and strategic goals.
