The Data Center Systems & Automation team is responsible for building the systems that automate and orchestrate the physical work processes that occur inside global data centers. Our talented team of datacenter engineers depend on our systems to perform their work safely securely efficiently and free of defects resultant in finished products being ready for customerfacing utilization. Our team is responsible for billions of dollars in capital and the ultimate success of our core infrastructure business.

We are looking for software engineers who are excited about building industry leading next generation Supply Chain Management and Workforce Management systems for AWS Data centers. In this role you will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability scalability and latency guarantees. In addition you will be expected to raise the standards of the organization by mentoring junior engineers interviewing and upleveling the coding standards. This is a highly visible program across multiple organizations where you will have the opportunity to have a huge impact.

Help us push the availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure to new heights! The AWS Data Center Systems & Automation team builds services to monitor and operate data center infrastructure including Cloud Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Our services directly contribute to the high availability of AWS data centers and Amazons sustainability goals. Teams in Data Center Services and Automation solve problems of massive data ingestion and processing build distributed cloud computing services work on data visualization anomaly detection analytics and graph databases. Our team is primarily focused on the inventory and topology services for power and cooling inventory that are used by rack planning and allocation systems as well as by Cloud SCADA monitoring and alarming.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate about working on the design and development of application software that helps keep Amazon data centers running efficiently and securely. On any given day we use Java graph query language (Gremlin) DynamoDB CloudFormation CloudWatch and other AWS services as well as a number of other Amazoninternal tools.

In this role youll be leading the design development testing and launch of new data center inventory and topology services and features in the data center infrastructure space. You will collaborate with your team members and engineers on other teams. You will deliver quality software to production ensuring best customer experience and reliability. You will join the oncall rotation to help solving customer issues in the production system and drive best practices that enable a quality product. Above all you will care deeply about the customer and delight in creating simple and elegant solutions that solve our customers biggest challenges.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
