POSITION TITLE: CNA Instructor Adult Education
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Education Center
LOCATION: Adult Education Center and offsite for Clinicals
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 Days and benefits will be specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
*These positions are contingent upon the availability of funds. Due to the unique nature of an Adult Education assignment working hours are flexible and personnel will be required to work shifts that may include day and/or evening hours. Teaching assignments may include sites other than the Adult Education Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in Arkansas.
- Two years nursing experience and at least one year of long term experience including at nursing services within the last five years.
- Experience may include but is not limited to employment in a nursing assistant education program or employment in or supervision of nursing facility or unit geriatrics department (excluding geriatric psychiatry) longterm acute care hospital home care hospice care or other long term care setting.
- An instructor applicant shall also attend a seminar approved by the Division of Aging to learn the methodology of teaching the course.
- Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting.
- Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
- Ability to work nights.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Teach the course curriculum as outlined for six CNA sections per year and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults.
- Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license.
- Maintain accurate records on all students including but not limited to attendance records schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
- Evaluate and document students progress through testing observation and assessment of skills attained.
- Communicate effectively with students and all those affiliated with the course including staff at clinical training facilities CTC staff and prospective employers.
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation interpersonal skills development and concepts of good patient care.
- Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director.
- Work as a team with TANF Out of School Youth Job Placement Facilitator & TANF Career Coach.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Skilled in teaching adult learners.
- Willingness to work on a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Be responsible for building/developing other healthcare programs to be taught inbetween CNA classes.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with administrators.
- Attend meetings/training as required by administration.
- Work additional hours as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Present and communicate in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
- Frequent district and occasional statewide travel.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing walking sitting kneeling occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders bending squatting.
