Job Duties
The Scale Facilities Technician reporting to the Technical Services Manager is responsible for evaluating and maintaining Weigh Station facilities including plumbing electrical painting repairs. This position will also assist with weighing equipment repairs and maintenance used across Virginia to support DMVs mission.
This role is responsible for keeping all facilities in working order while ensuring weighing devices are accurately calibrated and compliant with state and federal standards. This position will also oversee installations repair and preventive maintenance at state facilities. Additionally the Scale Facilities Technician manages critical parts inventory. This role is essential for accurate weight enforcement protecting roadways and ensuring public safety.
Minimum Qualifications
Indepth knowledge of state and federal weight regulations including FMCSA guidelines and truck weighing policies procedures and regulations to ensure compliance in vehicle operations.
Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical scale systems including diagnostic techniques and maintenance processes ensuring the accuracy and functionality of weighing systems.
Proficient in using mechanical tools electronic testing devices and computer systems for equipment testing repair and data analysis ensuring that all equipment meets operational standards.
Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
Experience in coordination with multiple stakeholders including law enforcement and other agencies.
Experience working in mobile enforcement operations making critical decisions regarding equipment maintenance and repairs without direct supervision.
Experience in data entry and maintaining accurate records and documentation with strong oral and written communication skills for reporting and compliance.
Additional Considerations
Experience using hand tools grinders welders and other repair equipment to maintain and repair weighing systems ensuring equipment remains functional and safe.
Familiarity with DMV policies and motor carrier regulations particularly as they pertain to weigh stations and enforcement operations.
