POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of Integrated Behavioral Health Services within the Department of Psychiatry the Gender Care Center Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician will be responsible for 1 providing behavioral health services to the transgender & gender diverse population at Boston Medical Center 2 working with GCC leadership to develop clinical pathways for Behavioral Health 3 providing clinical supervision for trainees working with GCC. The Gender Care Center at BMC was established in 2016 (formally known as CTMS) and was the first center in New England to provide such a comprehensive program and is a leader nationally in the delivery of transgender medical and surgical care.
Position: Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician
Department: GenderCare Center Social Services
Schedule: Part Time 24 hours
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Clinical responsibilities will include:
- Conducting presurgical mental health assessments and pre/postsurgical support planning for patients interested in genderaffirming surgeries
- Delivering short and longterm psychotherapy
- Serving as BH consultant at surgical readiness meetings
- Facilitate the pre/postop support group monthly
- Group development and facilitation
- Clinical supervision of psychology trainees and/or psychiatry residents
- Communication and care coordination with patients behavioral health providers and other collaterals
- Coordination of care with other GCC providers as clinically indicated
Clinical Administrative responsibilities include:
- Referral coordination and triage of patients referred for BH services with GCC
- Facilitation of GCC Behavioral Health case consultation meetings
- Reviewing GCC surgical referral letters
Other responsibilities include:
- Communication with external behavioral health providers writing presurgical letters
- Attendance at biweekly GCC administrative meetings
- Attendance at relevant IBH and Psychiatry meetings and inservice education program offerings through the Department of Psychiatry
- Obtaining continuing education units necessary to maintain licensure.
- Representing the Department of Psychiatry IBH and GCC throughout hospital and outside community regarding departments practice and field of social work.
- Utilizing the hospitals behavioral standards as the basis for decisionmaking and to facilitate the hospitals mission.
- Following established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality according to hospital policy
- Practicing professional discretion when determining the inclusion of any patient information into medical record or other documentation
- Complying with departmental regulatory and professional requirements for documentation recording and data collection
- Maintaining a complete understanding of emergency procedures
- Assigned Other duties as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Masters Degree from an accredited school of Social Work
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Massachusetts Licensed Independent Certified Social Worker (LICSW)
EXPERIENCE:
Prior clinical experience working with gender diverse population
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience with gender affirming care and clinical supervision
- Knowledge of community resources and agencies that serve the transgender and gender diverse community
- Available for evening hours
- Knowledge of Social Work process and community resources and agencies in relation to health illness and disability generally acquired through one to two years onthejob training.
- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with various healthcare professionals and to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Comfort in a fastpaced and dynamic work environment
- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
