At the heart of the position is the preparation planning and monitoring of the annual operating special revenue funds and capital budgets ensuring that every dollar reflects the districts priorities. Through careful financial analysis and strategic planning the role supports longterm district objectives while maintaining an uptodate and accurate budget database conducts all procurements and oversees purchasing activities ensuring strict compliance with Massachusetts general laws. Serving as the principal financial advisor to the School Committee and Superintendent this individual provides crucial reports and insights that guide decisionmaking. Collaboration extends beyond the school district. Strong partnerships with town officials including the Finance Director/Town Accountant Treasurer/Collector and Town Administrator along with fire police highway and other town departments help to create seamless coordination between town and school ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement sound financial policies and procedures to maintain compliance and fiscal development and monitoring budget and financial reporting and resource allocation to support district facilities operations transportation and food services to ensure efficiency and compliance with with district administrators town officials and community members to align financial and operational and support business office staff to ensure effective financial management and longterm financial and capital planning strategies to sustain district growth and compliance with state and federal financial regulations and reporting QualificationsLicensed or eligible for licensure as a School Business Administrator by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationMasters degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Administration Business Administration Public Administration Accounting Finance or other related fieldMinimum of five 5 years of supervisory experienceMinimum of five 5 years experience and demonstrated leadership in school or municipal financial managementMassachusetts Certified Public Purchasing official (MCPPO)Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirementsDouglas Public Schools will offer a regionally competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
