JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State Psychological Clinic is seeking a fulltime Staff Therapist to provide various clinical services in a dynamic training and community mental health environment as part of Penn States toprated clinical psychology doctoral training program. Penn State benefits are included.
The Psychological Clinic located on Penn States University Park campus provides psychological and psychiatric outpatient treatment and psychological and neuropsychological assessment for adults families adolescents and children as well as school and communitybased intervention programs.
The focus of the Staff Therapists clinical work will primarily be with children and adolescents. However their work may expand or shift focus to adults in the future based on business needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide individual and group psychotherapy to various clinical populations including clients who meet the states definition of having a serious and persistent mental illness in both short and longterm treatment formats
Provide consultation regarding complex mental health concerns to various organizations within the community
Collaborate with psychiatric and health care providers as necessary; consult with the multidisciplinary clinic staff
Initial consultation and diagnostic assessment for clients with a wide range of mental health behavioral emotional and developmental concerns
Complete all required documentation in a timely and compliant manner
Attend and participate in clinical and staff meetings development activities and relevant seminars
At times the Staff Therapist may also be involved in supervision teaching outreach research training and presentations associated with the Psychology Training Program and Psychological Clinic.
The Staff Therapist may also have opportunities to travel to offsite local settings (e.g. primary care facilities group homes jails schools) to provide services and consultation if they are interested.
All services of this position will be expected to be performed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care using evidencebased treatment approaches.

Education and Experience:
This position will be filled as a Mental Health Counselor at the level of Advanced Professional or Senior Professional depending on the final applicants experience and education. The Advanced Professional level requires a minimum of a Masters degree and three years of relevant experience. Additional experience is required for higherlevel positions.
Applicants for both ranks must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); those who are licenseeligible for either the LCSW or LPC will also be considered.
Experience providing evidencebased treatments is required; experience with any of the following is preferred: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Parent Management Training (PMT) TransferenceFocused Psychotherapy (TFP) ParentChild Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
