Job Description

CONTRACT/SALARY: 182/179 days; Teacher Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible members of society.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate: K12 Vocal Music
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with personnel students and patrons in individual and group settings.
  • Knowledge of informal and formal assessment procedures and curriculum standards

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide piano accompaniment for choir rehearsals concerts and special performances.
  • Assist the Choir Director in rehearsing teaching vocal parts to students event coordination and other administrative tasks.
  • Lead sectional rehearsals and provide individual or smallgroup vocal coaching.
  • Support students musical growth by teaching proper vocal techniques sightreading and musicianship skills.
  • Help select appropriate repertoire and provide input on musical arrangements.
  • Coordinate with the Choir Director to ensure smooth and effective rehearsals.
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging environment that nurtures student confidence and musical expression.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings concerts and schoolrelated events as required.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals andin harmony with the goalsestablishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education curriculum instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  • Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Attends faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals objectives and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for cocurricular activities as assigned.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Provides for his or her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops seminars conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Counsels with colleagues students and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
