The Williamsport Area School District is accepting applications for an anticipated position for a High School Drama & Communications Teacher (with English Certification) for theschool year. The location is at the Williamsport Area High School or at the determination of the Superintendent salary as per the current contract schedule. Job requirements as per job description to include current PDE certification in Secondary English.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
BASIC FUNCTION
The Drama and Communications Teacher plans and administers the Drama Public Speaking and Communications instructional programs and classroom operations in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration Board of Directors state and federal agencies. The teacher will create an environment that encourages learning motivates students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation for postsecondary education and career opportunities.
The Drama and Communications Teacher will utilize all resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents staff members and administrators to support each students opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life position of Drama and Communications Teacher is a 188day position and shall include active participation in the schools operation to support a positive learning environment. This position reports to and is evaluated annually by the Building Principal and/or their designee.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The requirements for this position are a minimum of a bachelors degree and appropriate Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification in English and Drama along with qualifications prescribed by law.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Drama and Communications Teacher will demonstrate proficiency with the WASD Drama Public Speaking and Communications curriculum Benchmarks PA Standards and appropriate assessments. The teacher will strengthen their abilities by reviewing innovative programs supported by best practices and research.
The Drama and Communications Teacher must be able to articulate the school and district goals regarding Drama Public Speaking and secondary educational programs to staff students parents and community members. The teacher must possess the knowledge pedagogical abilities and attitudes necessary to be a successful scholar decisionmaker and agent for curriculum enhancement and change. The teacher must be comfortable using computer and technological applications as educational tools including utilizing email Microsoft Word spreadsheets and curriculumbased software.
