Job Description

Job Summary/DescriptionOur STEM summer program has been a success for over thirty years. We pride ourselves in offering a handson diverse nature curriculum. Our spiral curriculum is heavily influenced by STEM. The interior spaces provide many curated materials from astronomy to zoology and so much more. We will be utilizing the Montessori classrooms providing a horticultural program and many scheduled activities. This summer program begins from June 9th and finishes August 8th.. The summer program teacher shall support the schools efforts toward achieving and maintaining Montessori professional standards. Additionally the summer program teacher shall be a model of professionalism for parents children and summer program teacher is supportive of the individual needs of the children in accordance with the schools mission and vision. Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide and supervise a healthy safe social and intellectual environment Model communicate and encourage consistent behavioral interactionsFoster the development of independence and collaboration Model and encourage the development of problem solving Communicate with parents effectively when needed Communicate with the director prior to speaking with a parent regarding health well being and behavioralCommunicate clearly and respectfully with staff membersCollaborate and provide guided lessons that adhere to the summer programs curriculumPrepare organize replenish and maintain classroom materials and suppliesFollow the recommendations and requirements of the state regulators Department of Early Childhood and Care (EEC)Follow the procedures and protocols found within the employee handbook. Examples of these include the schools evacuation plan and health and wellbeingEssential FunctionsFrequent bending lifting and reaching are required. Regular attendance is mandatory. Attends and participates in a weekly meetingMinimum QualificationsIdeally a high school graduate or GED. An associates or bachelors degree in early childhood is preferred from an accredited college or universityExperience working with toddlers or children ages 2.9 6 within an early childhood settingSuccessful candidates will need to pass a background CORI check and remain current on First Aid/CPR certifications
