Position Description:The District Support Cook will receive daily school assignment from the Director of Nutrition and Food Service and be dispatched to schools requiring additional support during the day. The District Support Cook will take instruction from the Lead Cook at any given school on the tasks in which need to be completed for the Responsibilities:Required to perform all aspects of meal production serving ala carte salesPerform duties assigned by Lead Cook including standing for long periods of time and lifting 35 lbs without assistanceRequired to operate all commercial equipment in kitchen including convection ovens mixers food processor meat slicer and microwaveMaintain daily production recordsClean as assigned by cook working with various household and industrial cleaners such as chlorine bleach grease cutters oven cleaners and sanitizerMaintain high standards of work habits sanitation and safetyMust keep hair restrained at all times when working with foodMust wear vinyl or plastic gloves while handling foodUnderstand oral and written instructionDemonstrates regular attendance and punctualityMust deal courteously with the students staff parents and publicMaintains an effective working relationship with other employeesAttends all food service meetings and participates in the inservice training programs as scheduled by the departmentSkills and Knowledge Required:Basic computer skills/Cash RegisterMachinery related to job assignmentsAbility to be flexible and handle a variety of tasksAbility to work cooperatively with othersKnowledge of basic operations of a school cafeteriaDemonstrates a knowledge of basic mathThe ability to express a service oriented attitude communicate effectively with others and work with limited supervisionEducation:High school or equivalency diploma. I deal candidate is Serve Safe certified however NOT a requirement. Physical Activity:Duties are typically performed in areas related to the kitchen. Work is performed walking or standing.
