The role of a teacher degree apprentice is to learn how to become an effective teacher while working directly with students and a mentor teacher to help provide high quality mission aligned education for students. Apprentice teachers are enrolled in coursework with Colorado Mountain Colleges (CMC) leading to a Bachelors Degree and a Colorado teacher licensure. The role is for the duration of your CMC coursework upon which with the satisfactory completion of the registered apprenticeship and passage of the relevant Colorado Teacher Certification Test the teacher degree apprentice would be eligible to become a fulltime certified teacher of record.
Compensation and Schedule
Fulltime/40 hours per week during the regular school calendar year. Compensation is dependent on the starting step of the pathway for the apprentice. For fulltime employees benefits include: Health Dental and Vision insurance 21.4 employer contribution to your PERA retirement plan paid leave tuition reimbursement free CMC credits.
Management
The Apprentice Teacher is directly supervised by the Mentor Teacher and reports to the schools principal. The Apprentice Teacher must remain in good standing with the district and CMC.
Responsibilities
Through authentic practice alongside a qualified mentor teacher an apprentice teachers role is to learn and develop in the practice of teaching. Apprentice teachers will be coached and developed by a mentor teacher whose classroom they are assigned to.
