The Environmental Manager directs and manages all SCOR environmental processes for all SCOR projects. The Environmental Manager engages with local and state government agencies to ensure projects are compliant with all applicable local state and federal environmental regulations policies guidelines and standards. This position is responsible for managing SCORs policies and procedures related to environmental reviews. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches counsels and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork.
  • Oversee the environmental review process ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations and mitigation potential environmental impacts through the development and review of environmental reports.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of environmental review reports related public notices and publications for compliance with programmatic environmental review requirements; Provide review comments as needed; Track revisions and ensure final reports are received and approved in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the completion of Tiered SiteSpecific environmental reviews for Buyout projects in accordance with federal state and agency requirements.
  • Oversee and monitor projects in construction for compliance with the approved environmental review report ensuring all required mitigation activities are being adhered to and environmental review records are updated as necessary to reflect any project changes that require revisions to the environmental report.
  • Manage the data collection and preparation of the annual reports for submittal to SC SHPO in accordance with the existing programmatic agreement. Prepare metrics for reporting to SCOR leadership political entities project stakeholders and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelors degree and review and relevant program experience.

  • Experience in environmental compliance for county state and/or federal programs is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful applicants must possess a strong understanding of environmental regulations principles and practices including those related to air water and soil contamination wetlands and endangered species.
  • Strong research analytical and observation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • A working knowledge of NEPA and NHPA Section 106 as well as previous experience working with federal and state regulatory agencies
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
