Fayerweather is seeking a fulltime Learning Specialist for Grades 1 and 2 to support students using a pushin model. This role focuses on working with students with identified learning disabilities including those with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) from their district schools. The Learning Specialist will also collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning needs. The person in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with Learning Specialist role is an important position at Fayerweather Street School as the role supports the learning of both students and teachers. The position will report directly to the Assistant Head of School to support student learning in grades 1 and Learning Specialist will develop learning plans monitor student progress and support students needing learning assistance. Responsibilities include organizing and overseeing child study meetings collaborating with the school counselor in tiering students conducting assessments and documenting progress. The role also involves communicating with parents leading conferences and collaborating with gradelevel teams on instruction and curriculum Responsibilities:Provide student support through small group instruction primarily pushing into the classroom and occasionally working individually with students. Focus on remediation sometimes accommodation and developing effective executive function competencies study/academic habits and subjectspecific skills (i.e. math and reading strategies).Coteach lessons with 1st and 2ndgrade teachersCollaborate with teachers to develop effective wholegroup practices and smallgroup interventionsCollaborate with parttime and fulltime learning specialists to support studentsMake recommendations for strategies and interventions to strengthen learningSupport teachers in differentiating plans for students based on their unique learning profiles so all students are adequately challenged and engagedOversee and/or administer appropriate assessments to determine the effectiveness of instructionCollaborate with gradelevel teams to assist and support effective curriculum and instructional planningCreate learning support plans for individual students based on neuropsychological evaluations and/or IEP recommendationsProvide progress monitoring and communication with parents and coteachersPerform duties including recess coverage lunch duty and creating curricular displaysAttend weekly staff meetingsAttend Learning Support meetingsParticipate in admissions programming as neededOther duties as assigned
