Primary Purpose of Position:

The NC Museum of Art is seeking an enthusiastic individual to be part of our team! The Manager of Visitor and Volunteer Experience provides first line of interaction between the Museum volunteers and visitors. Position serves as a customer relations representative for visitors addressing unexpected changes requests and unusual circumstances as they arise. In addition this role is responsible for all volunteer relations engagement and retention efforts.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Acting as point of contact for Museum departments in need of volunteers and connecting volunteers to each department.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse volunteer workforce.
  • Maintaining statistical records of volunteer placement participation and performance.
  • Serving as community liaison for growing and retaining a diverse network of volunteers and opportunities on campus and community.
  • Providing superior service in greeting and assisting Museum visitors.
  • Assisting visitors at all interaction points and points of sale including the Museum and exhibition stores.
  • Engaging visitors by knowing about the Museum the art collection events programs and exhibitions.
  • Identifying opportunities to promote memberships to visitors and facilitating membership transactions.
  • Actively building events and understanding the backend of the Museums customer relationship software Tessitura and promoting ticket sales of all Museum events.
  • Utilizing customer relationship management tools daily to identify sellouts canceled events and other ticketing needs.

Position/Physical Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule is WednesdaySunday; 9:00 am5:30 pm.
  • Must have ability to multitask but also ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must have ability to stay abreast of Museum activities and events.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Museums customer relationship software.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills including the ability to work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties.

The North Carolina Museum of Artis a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The statutory purpose of the museum is to acquire preserve and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoyment of the people of the State and to conduct programs of education research and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the state.
