Job Description
Extended School Year/Summer: Special Educators
Burlington School District is seeking Special Educators to provide supports in an inclusive summer school environment for students at risk and with disability. Special Educators will provide services in the classroom in small groups and individually as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
- Licensed in Special Education
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in closely working with providing direction instruction to students with disability
- Experience in communicating and maintaining positive relationships with parents and guardians of students with intensive needs
- Ability to commit to work all 5 program weeks July1 August1 or June 24 July 26 for Middle School
- Experience or ability in coteaching with regular education teachers
- Ability to train and supervise paraeducators
- Experience in working with ELL students who have language development needs desirable
- Knowledge of best practices in engaging and motivating students and managing student behaviors.
- Previous experience inExtended School Year programming is preferred
Dates and Position Hours:
InService Date: (TBD) 1 day
Program Dates: June 30July 31. No July 4th. MONDAYTHURSDAY only. Staff work 8:3012:30pm. Students attend 912pm.
K5th grade programming will be held at JJ Flynn Elementary School and 612th grade programming will be at dt BHS.
