GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides job readiness vocational skills and professional behavior. They create and deliver curriculum that meets student needs and provide handson learning in the classroom and through community work placements. The teacher tracks student progress works with employers to secure placements and ensures safety standards. They support individualized learning plans communicate with students families and staff and participate in professional development. The teacher also helps students transition to employment or postsecondary education by promoting job readiness and independence.
ESSENTIAL TASKS

Teach workbased skills including job readiness and vocational training.
Develop and implement a workbased curriculum aligned with CTE standards.
Provide handson learning through simulated environments or communitybased work.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback for improvement.
Collaborate with employers to secure work placements that align with student goals.
Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
Ensure safety and compliance with regulations in workbased learning environments.
Communicate regularly with students parents and other stakeholders.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
Support students in transitioning to employment or postsecondary education.
Assist Transition Coordinator Job Placement Specialist on assignments to help RCPS accomplish division transition goals.
Perform other assigned duties.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of RCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum RCPS policies and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators colleagues central office school based staff students parents and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelors Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Applicants must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with a Special Education General Curriculum (or similar) licensure endorsement with 10 years of experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The role may also involve working in various settings including outdoors and assisting students with handson learning experiences.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily controlled temperature and clean classroom environment. Exposure to outside elements may occur during transitions field trips and recess.
