Entry Level Maintenance / Construction Position no previous experience required!
The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative Regional Maintenance Technician I to be a part of the Coastal Regional Maintenance Team. This position reports to the Coastal Regional Maintenance Yard in Greenville NC and will learn the skills to perform general preventative maintenance and likeinkind Force Account system replacements.
The Regional Maintenance Technician I position is a basic level position that does not require any previous experience in the maintenance or construction trades. The only requirements to be successful is to have a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn. As a Region Maintenance Technician I you will be taught the skills and gain useful experience in the construction installation maintenance and repair of general plumbing HVAC AND/OR electrical systems equipment and machinery.
This position requires the daily commute to Coastal Regional Maintenance Yard in Greenville NC. This is a fulltime position 40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday Friday and may require some weekend work and overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

As of January 1 2025 there are new Salary increase adjustments to the States pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission. Effective January 1 2025. The new salary range (s) will be $29604.00 $51807.00. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient yearforyear combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.
We support the Institutions and Facilities directly and indirectly by installing and maintaining kitchen plumbing mechanical electrical and electronics equipment. The DECMEngineering team consists of experts in architectural and engineering design property services project management and sustainability efficiency and resiliency (SE&R). These services support new construction renovation and likeinkind and upgrade maintenance repairs to the agencys physical plant while ensuring compliance with the NCDOA State Construction Office.
Through valuable rehabilitation and training for offenders we aim to improve recidivism rates. DECMConstruction undertakes construction renovation and major maintenance projects that involve longer periods of resource allocation with a focus on enhancing the departments infrastructure assets. DECMMaintenance which encompasses the Mountain Regional Yard Piedmont Regional Yard Coastal Regional Yard and three Satellite Yards provides essential plumbing HVAC/R and electrical preventative prescriptive and routine maintenance services to all Institutions and Facilities. Additionally our maintenance efforts include specific areas such as telecommunications electronic intrusion systems (EIS) fencing cameras fire alarms and energy management systems all focused on maintaining the Departments infrastructure assets.
DAC uses the MeritBased Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
