- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Certified Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman and/or Automotive Mechanic
- Five 5 years progressively responsible experience at the Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician and/or Automotive Technician level. Minimum of one(1 year lead technician experience with demonstrated supervisory ability
Assets:
- CVIP certification preferred
- Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate
Skills required for success:
- Proficient with Google tools and current Fleet Management Software (M5
- Good Knowledge of large scale repair shop environment/procedures associated scheduling and work loading analysis/planning knowledge of mechanical functions methods materials tools and safe repair requirements of a wide range of vehicles and equipment including knowledge of internal combustion engines electronic diagnosis electrical systems hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to assimilate new types of vehicles and equipment into the environment and respond to changes in technology and methods
- Ability to diagnose difficult or unusual vehicle and equipment conditions or malfunctions and to determine effective corrective measures
- Ability to plan assign supervise and lead a team of high functioning staff
- Possess sound interpersonal leadership motivational teamwork and communication (verbal and written) skills
- The ability to act in a professional manner and negotiated to gain new opportunities discover new solutions resolve disputes agree upon courses of action bargaining or create outcomes which satisfy everyones interests

Conditions of Employment:
- Capable of passing a jobrelated physical abilities evaluation (F.A.R.E. test) and preemployment City medical examination
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Possession of/ability to obtain a valid Alberta Class 3 and Air Brake (Q) endorsement Drivers Licence
- Must successfully complete the required leadership training with the City of Edmonton within two years of appointment; previous completion of Foremanship Level 1 & 2 and/or Aspiring Supervisors preferred
- Must successfully complete the Leadership in Health & Safety program within the first 90 days
- Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator and compliance with the City of Edmontons Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment including medical monitoring is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmontons safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as wearing steel toed boots is a requirement for this position

As a Garage Foreperson you will contribute in keeping the Citys fleet running smoothly by designing and implementing comprehensive maintenance plans for all Cityowned and external fleet assets making sure that everything from routine servicing to major repairs is scheduled and completed efficiently. Your goal is to minimize downtime and extend the life of the fleet which ultimately saves the City money and ensures that essential services arent disrupted.
In this role your success will be measured by preventing asset failures and keeping downtime low. You will play a key part in continuous improvement monitoring key performance indicators and developing insights that lead to better processes and more efficient operations. The Garage Foreperson is not just focused on todays fleet but also on building a better maintenance system for the future. This includes documenting procedures and best practices then rolling out improvements across all City garages ensuring that everyone is working together to maintain the fleet to the highest standards.
What will you do
- Develop and execute comprehensive fleet maintenance plans incorporating preventive maintenance seasonal upkeep overhauls and capital projects
- Optimize maintenance schedules and resource allocation through collaboration with Capacity Planner & Scheduler and creation of Bills of Materials
- Ensure compliance by overseeing maintenance forms and managing vendorissued maintenance/recall campaigns
- Identify improvement opportunities and track KPIs through participation in Shop Controller meetings garage visits and data analysis
- Collaborate across teams and provide training to MFM staff on processes and requirements
- Implement continuous improvement strategies and concepts for monitoring and measuring maintenance program effectiveness
- Document processes and support budget development through activitybased planning and collaboration with operations leadership
- Analyze performance and contribute to financial planning by supporting the development and monitoring of EPM targets and performance
- Provide clientlevel maintenance overviews to aid in garage work management and create reports and recommendations for various stakeholders
