The Laurel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a fulltime position of Middle School Science Teacher beginning theschool year.
Salary Range: $42300.00$67825.00(Salary is dependent on years of experience and educational level) This position is part of the Certified Bargaining Agreement and placement on the salary matrix will be limited to ten years of service/experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS Degree in Education.
- Valid Montana Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s). (Must have valid Montana teaching certificate prior to teaching)
- Ability to write and read reports and effectively communicate in written and oral form.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to inquiries from students parents staff and community.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans and develops course of study suitable for a particular grade level following curriculum guideline of the district and state requirements.
- Provides individual and group instruction and other appropriate learning activities designed to teach skills required for specific grade levels using the course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees enabling each child to reach their greatest educational physical emotional and social potential
- Develops and presents specific lesson plans using a variety of means; may include but not limited to lectures projects group discussions exhibits field trips audiovisual and library resources computers and the Internet.
- Prepares administers monitors corrects and grades inschool and homework assignments and tests.
- Maintains standards of behavior within the classroom and utilizes established discipline policies when necessary to foster a consistent and productive learning environment.
- Evaluates student progress and participates in scheduled parent conferences and additional parent faculty curriculum inservice instructional building and district meetings as required.
- Evaluates student performance against learning objectives. Develops tests to test performance grades performance corrects papers and conducts parent/guardian conferences or meetings to discuss student progress problems strengths concerns or other pertinent issues of the student family and school.
- Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the classroom school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.
- Employs and implements a classroom structure of consistency to encourage student responsibility cooperation and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures.
- Employs various teaching techniques methods and principles of learning to best the needs of students and district learning outcomes.
- Conducts standardized tests in accordance with District policies and law.
- Maintains accurate student progress and attendance records.
- Takes appropriate action if evidence of learning disabilities or social development issues appear and coordinates consultation intervention and parent contact or any other required steps in accordance with school policy.
- Recommends promotion graduation and/or placement of students to appropriate classroom situations and programs for ensuing year.
- Communicates effectively with students parents district personnel and school board members.
- Collaborates with other educational professionals and administrators regarding the needs of students instructional needs new instructional technologies or approaches to student problems learning or curriculum.
- Serves on District committees task forces administrative meetings or IEP meetings to provide assistance in curriculum development assessing student progress and performance or to participate in the building decisionmaking.
- Accepts and effectively completes other responsibilities regarding the operation and progress of the school and/or district.
- Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
- Complies with Board policies rules regulations and directives.
- Supervises classroom aides and volunteers by providing instructional leadership within the classroom instructional support activities and functions. Assigns activities provides guidance and instructional oversight.
